This project was developed to focus on commonly used materials in subsea
applications, including low alloy steels and 13Cr stainless alloys. Sulfide stress cracking testing under constant load (tensile) testing was performed as well as Double Cantilever Beam (DCB) testing. Tests were conducted at a constant partial pressure of H2S but with two different solutions and at ambient (23 C) and lower temperature (5 C). By performing tensile testing,
crack initiation behavior was assessed, while DCB testing provided evaluation of crack propagation/arrest data.
