This paper reviews available information and the state-of-the-art in corrosivity prediction in alkaline sour water systems for assessment of plant operations, process control and materials selection. It also reveals some of the limitations that currently exist, and experimental and analytical methodologies that are currently being used to develop a quantitative understanding of aqueous ammonium bisulfide corrosion.
