History

Ununseptium was first made by research scientists at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna, Russia in 2010. Scientists reacted calcium with berkelium ions. Ununseptium (Uus) is a temporary element name until it is given an official name by The International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC). As a result of its position in the periodic table ununseptium is expected to be classed as one of the halogens. The effects of relativistic electrons may result in partial metalloid properties. Too little of the element has been synthesized for the chemical properties to be confirmed
