FUTURE EFFORTS

Planned 2002 ECDA Work:

Provide examples for urban areas and collect supporting excavation observations, continue to evaluate new technology that has not been generally accepted, Some of the specific gas transmission related tasks for 2002 would be:

  1. Complete the balloting for TG041 and DCVG TG0497 2Q02
  2. Revisit the existing data sets to answer the idea of "repeatable"
  3. Finish bell holes that were not possible earlier
  4. Dig at some sites that had no ECDA inspection indications
  5. Include the delayed ILI inspection
  6. Organize a workshop to review TG041 and improve the consistency of interpretation
  7. Collect additional new examples to validate the ECDA methodology
  8. Provide DA metrics, which show integrity is improving

Planned Future ECDA Work:

  • 2003 Provide examples for locating isolated indications and improve the possibility of location prior mechanical damage, continue evaluating new technology, and initiate work to begin the qualification and certification of ECDA providers.
  • 2004 Update the NACE TG041 ECDA Standard to include new technology and the their ability to locate corrosion.
