Also I work for a compressor company and we are seeking a consultant to help our supplier base to control rust on purchased parts. We restrict the types of liquid rust inhibiotrs we allow on parts and could use an expert in rust prevention. Types of iron potection is 1010 type steel and cast iron.

Does anyone a consultant who could help?

I would like to help you. First I need to have more information. If the parts are being stored in the open, that is one thing, but if they are in a "dry" environment that may mean something else. Give me more information about the use of the parts and how they are being stored before use. Perhaps I can help you.

There is realy no generic standardized inhibitor test. However, you can use the basics in ASTM G31 for immersion testing.

ASTM G1.05 (Laboratory corrosion testing) is starting a new standardization activity directed at inhibitor testing. Hopefully the first meeting will be in May 1998 in Atlanta. If you are interested, I am starting a mailing list of people interested in participation.
