The reasoning behind the link between EIS spectra
and physical phenomena was obtained by using SEM
analysis and EDAX mapping obtained at samples
subject at the same potentials where electro
chemical measurements were made. Similar EIS
behaviour was observed by one of the authors in
the activation mechanism of aluminium by indium
in chloride media.The general idea was to go up
along the polarization curve to determine the
pit initiation conditions using ENM and complement
with EIS.
