Field Corrosion Testing
Field corrosion testing is corrosion tests which are conducted outside of the normal laboratory setting. Their intent is often to quantify certain aspects of actual service that cannot be duplicated in the laboratory. Some effects which are commonly investigated in field tests are:
- Variation between laboratory and service performance.
- Effects of component geometry, flow or system configuration which cannot be adequately reproduced in the laboratory.
- Identification of the site-to-site variation in corrosion performance.
- Determine the effects of system start-up or upset conditions on corrosion behavior.
