Corrosion Study of a Sour Water System Carbon Steel and Type 304 stainless steel samples were exposed in thirteen corrosion tests conducted in solutions (with varying pH, oxygen content, SO2 content and chloride ion content) in a simulated sour water solution produced in the laboratory. Corrosion rates were calculated, and U-bends were examined for stress-corrosion cracking. Evaluation of CRAs for determining resistance to Corrosion & CrackingPresented herein are the results of the Task 2 Corrosion Resistant Alloy (CRA) Evaluation. These tests were conducted to determine the corrosion and stress corrosion cracking behavior of selected high alloy materials under conditions simulating those found in the Thamama gas. Electrochemical Measurements of Localized and General Corrosion in LiBrThis work is relevant to a process design project that involves high capacity heat exchangers. The heat exchangers in question are slated to use a 65 percent LiBr solution as the heat transfer agent. The engineering question of concern is the compatibility of the LiBr fluid with the materials of construction of the heat exchangers. Erosion Corrosion Evaluation of Cu-Ni ProductsFlow loop tests were conducted to evaluated the erosion-corrosion resistance of cupro-nickel heat exchanger tubes. 95-5 and CA 122 tubes were subjected to 10, 15 and 22.5 ft/sec flow rates in 45 F refreshed tap water for three, six and nine month periods, then returned to a separate contractor for evaluation. Corrosion in Oleum Under Fluid Flow ConditionsThis report provides data on corrosion of stainless steels in oleum and is a continuation of a series of investigations on the occasional failure of heat exchanger bundles in oleum plants. In previous studies, it was found that corrosion of 309 stainless steel under static as well as heat transfer conditions proceeds at a low rate at temperatures between 25 and 200C. A protective iron sulfate film is formed on the steel surface after an incubation period which reduces the corrosion rate to less than 5 mpy. |
