Socrates® 6.0 Features and Benefits

The Socrates 6.0 system represents a significant and comprehensive revision of the earlier versions of the most popular material selection program in the oil industry. In addition to a completely re-designed user interface, Socrates 6.0 contains significant new data on state-of-the-art CRA materials (such as Super and Hyper 13 Cr, newer Duplex and Nickel alloys etc.) as well as a host of new features for efficient and effective automated material selection.

Features of the Socrates 6.0 system include,
* New, significant data on state-of-the-art alloys (Super 13 Cr, 15 Cr, 2507, Newer Ni alloys such as Alloy 725, Alloy 31 etc.) as well as new data on existing materials in the SOCRATES database (over 120 CRA materials currently and growing)
* Revised rules for CRA evaluation for corrosion and cracking based on latest lab data and published information (including papers from Corrosion/99)
* Expanded, comprehensive WindowsTM help facility with on-line data and relationships for most commonly used stainless steels and CRAs
* New, on-line literature database with summaries and data from over eighty five relevant papers to facilitate quick access to published data for different materials in SOCRATES
* Improved user interface with new features (such as the ability to import Socrates consultations into word processing documents such as MS Word).
* Improved pH determination module, with the ability to accurately characterize effects of acid gases on pH
* Updated economic analysis for integrating economic factors into corrosion analysis

The Socrates 6.0 system has a re-designed, enhanced user interface with a host of new features:
* Module to convert data from field production report into parameters required for corrosion analysis
* Revised report generation module
* Ability to assess corrosion rates of carbon steels
* Improved file read and write capabilities

Socrates 6.0 has been designed from the ground up to be Y2K compliant and is made available with the guarantee that no aspect of program functionality will be affected by date related issues either prior to, during or after the year 2000.

It is strongly recommended that all users with previous versions of Socrates (which were not designed to be Y2K compliant) upgrade to version 6.0, since the new version provides a host of new features, data, as well as improved material selection and overall system functionality.
