Locations with a mass loss greater than 3 %, which includes the sites nearest the southeast side of the highway (HS1 and HS2), are considered to have a corrosivity corresponding to a seaside. The corrosivity  of the environment decreases with distance from the highway and was clearly higher on the southeast side of the highway than on the northwest side. The following Figure makes this quite visible. Remember that each point is an average of three independent measurements making the apparent quite significant.
