Time of wetness in a marine environment

The daily fractional TOW was calculated from weather data (R.H. and temperature) collected at CFB Greenwood over the time period from 1953-1993. The winter months (December-March) were predominately spent within the T3 category while spring through fall (April-November) on average are spent in the more corrosive T4 category.

This seasonal variation is illustrated further on examining the daily variation in the TOW in two months from both of these periods as shown below. Although August on average is shown above to be in the T4 category the daily variation clearly shows that for much of the day (the night time hours) the TOW is in reality in the more severe T5 region. Similarly, February is shown to be on average within the T3 region when the daily variation is examined much of the day is spent within the less severe T2 region and only occasionally entering the T3 region.
