Abstract:

When producing heavy section duplex parts special precautions have to be considered. A tool for prediction of the danger of cracking during heat treatment was found by micromechanic modelling. Two examples of large forgings made from duplex and superduplex materials are given and mechanical and corrosion properties are shown depending on different test locations.
