Abstract:

Due to a demand for lower design temperature and higher pressures of corrosive gas duplex stainless steels were selected for the gas processing on the Sleipner West platform. Due to the more stringent conditions a qualification programme was initiated to verify that the manufacturers were capable of meeting the needed properties. The programme consisted of reviewing the manufacturers quality programme, manufacturing procedures and facilities as well as testing actual products. Testing were performed both at the manufacturer and at Statoil's own laboratory. Testing at the manufacturers laboratory showed acceptable results and this was generally confirmed by the verification testing performed by Statoil.
