From an engineers and users point of view the duplex stainless steels are very attractive. The duplex alloys are strong, tough and very corrosion resistant. They are, therefore, extensively used in very critical piping systems and equipment for oil and gas production, where for instance pressure and temperature are high.

As alloy content is higher, the better is the corrosion resistance and the higher temperature performance.

However, these materials have very narrow production tolerances and will therefore require tight follow-up during production.
