1. Abstract:
353MA is a wrought low carbon-high nitrogen 25Cr-35Ni alloy. The oxidation and carburisation resistance has been enhanced by the addition of Si and REM (e.g. Ce). These additions have resulted in excellent chemical resistance to both oxidising and carburising environments. 353MA also exhibit very good creep properties at high temperatures. This paper will present the mechanical and the chemical properties of the alloy 353MA. The mechanical properties covered include room temperature and high temperature tensile- and yield strength, impact strength of material aged at various temperatures and times, and creep rupture data from 600°
C and up to 1150°
C. In addition to mechanical properties the corrosion properties in oxidising as well as in carburising environments are presented. Some experience from a test installation in a commercial ethylene cracker is also presented.
