Abstract:

Due to the manifold application of the duplex stainless steel of type 22% chromium, 5% nickel, 3% molybdenum, (UNS S 31803) it is necessary to gain wide knowledge about the behaviour of the weld metal.

Beyond this a manufacturer of filler material must design its products to meet the user's demands in terms of service properties.

Based on this approach, new improved covered electrode concepts (SMAW), solid and flux cored wires for gas metal arc welding (GMAW) as well as submerged arc welds (SAW) were investigated. The results include mainly mechanical-technological properties of the weld metal.
